This project looks to build on the already available technology. Tuk-tuks are a common transportation method across Asia, but they usually suffer from fuels efficiency and greatly contribute to air pollution.Lately,there has been steady progress in the adoption of electric tuk-tuk’s, but barriers such as cost and lack of awareness of the merits and a shortage of charging systems have become a challenge.

Fred Solution.
The project aims to join hands with electric and solar tuk-tuk suppliers and buy several vehicles to create brand exposure and incentivize their use through facilitating zero interest hire purchase, rental terms or purchase at near cost price. Each of the sponsored vehicles will have the FRED energy logo for an agreed period of time and will further promote the project and raise awareness among the people. Initially, this project will target Tuk-Tuk taxi drivers in tourist areas in Thailand, Vietnam, and China. These areas are perfect for the project as they are making an effort and moves towards low carbon societies and smart cities.

Tuk-Tuk's Market.
India has approximately 1.5 million of these vehicles and has begun to adopt electric versions of them in a bid to reduce environmental pollution, coming up with a new billion-dollar market. In estimation, a single Tuk-Tuk can emit around four tons of carbon, which is equivalent to the average car driving ten thousand kilometers per year, this is alarming! China, Vietnam, and Thailand are swiftly moving towards electrically driven transport, surpassing numerous western countries efforts.

In several cities and tourist destinations in Europe, electric tuk-tuks and new designs such as Bzzzt’s Pod Taxi per se, are emerging as an eco-friendly efficient and low-cost alternative for the conventional taxi.
